Omar Tillo

Cosultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon

About

Mr (Dr) Omar Tillo obtained his medical degree in 1997, followed by a four-year specialisation in General Surgery, completed in 2002. He became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCS) in 2005 and subsequently completed full specialist training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, gaining Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Plast). He also passed the European Board of Plastic Surgery examination (EBOPRAS). In addition to his clinical training, he holds both a Master in Surgery and an MD degree acquired through research.

During his NHS career, Dr Tillo established and led the Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Service at Bedford Hospital, introducing microsurgical free-flap breast reconstruction (including DIEP flaps), complex breast reconstruction, and revision surgery. Under his leadership, the service was nominated twice for the Hospital “Team of the Year” award and won the “Service Improvement and Innovation Award” in 2018.

In private practice, Dr Tillo has held consultant posts since 2016 and is now Medical Director and Senior Plastic Surgeon at CREO Clinic in London, where his practice focuses on aesthetic body contouring and complex reconstructive procedures.

He has completed advanced fellowships in breast reconstruction and hand surgery and is highly skilled in microsurgery. His aesthetic practice focuses on body contouring, high-definition liposuction, fat transfer, gluteal augmentation (using both implants and autologous fat), male chest contouring including gynaecomastia surgery and pectoral implants, and complex chest wall and calf reconstruction using computer-aided, 3D custom-made silicone implants.

Between 2021 and 2022, Dr Tillo collaborated with colleagues at the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons to review the safety and evidence base of gluteal lipofilling. This work led to the publication of the BAAPS Safety Review and Recommendations on Gluteal Fat Grafting in 2022, contributing to national standards and improved patient safety.
